A functional group will work together through identifying a goal, to finding resources, developing a plan and executing that plan through leadership, patience and good communication to achieve that goal.Problem solving activities help us to watch those dynamics so we can process and move forward with the learning whilst leaving behind what didn’t work.
A good team will use all aspects of communication as a fundamental part of team building. The ability to verbally communicate an idea plus the willingness to actively listen are just part of the complete picture.Body language and mannerisms are also part of the communication within the group The ability to interpret and react to this language is a very useful skill.
Challenges are designed according to the group dynamics. Some groups rise to the physical challenge whereas others may be tested more on the cognitive level. A blend of both physical and mental challenges will produce different levels of emotions which include frustration as a key component that needs to be processed before moving on.
Team work is a group of two or more people working together towards a common goal. The emphasis is on the common goal. Most new teams will forget to specifically identify the goal.We help to do this in the early stages of group formation with simple and fun initiatives. Using the acronym SMART goal setting. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time). Using this format groups will identify when the goal is reached and celebrate accordingly before processing and moving on.
